UDI Executive Director Announcement

Dear UDI Members,

On behalf of the UDI Nova Scotia Board, I am pleased to share that Bill MacAvoy has been appointed as UDI’s next Executive Director, effective August 1, 2026.

Following Stephen Adams’ announcement earlier this year that he would be retiring, the Board established a recruitment committee and undertook a comprehensive search process involving several highly qualified candidates. After that process, the Board unanimously approved Bill’s appointment.

Many of you will already know Bill through his long involvement in Nova Scotia’s real estate and development industry, including his leadership with Cushman & Wakefield and his broader experience across the sector. We are very excited to have someone with Bill’s industry knowledge, relationships, and collaborative approach stepping into this role.

At the same time, I want to again thank Stephen for his many years of leadership and advocacy on behalf of UDI and our members. Stephen will remain in the role through July 31 and will work closely with Bill to ensure a smooth transition.

UDI continues to play an active role advocating for policies and processes that support housing supply, affordability, infrastructure investment, and sustainable growth across Nova Scotia. We are confident Bill will build on that work and continue to strengthen UDI’s voice and effectiveness on behalf of members.

Please see the attached press release for additional details.
