In conjunction with HRM Planning staff, UDI will be hosting tutorial sessions on the Centre Plan. The Centre Plan is a new set of planning policies and regulations for the Regional Centre, including Peninsula Halifax and Dartmouth inside the Circumferential Highway. The Centre Plan was developed in two phases, Package A – approved by Council in September of 2019, and Package B approved on October 26, 2021. The approval of the new planning documents represents the completion of the first phase of the plan and by-law simplification, poising the Municipality for new growth that can support complete communities, pedestrians first, human-scaled design, and strategic growth. The plan supports new housing, business opportunities, urban design, heritage, parks and open spaces, and predictable approval processes.  It opens many new opportunities for mixed-use growth, infill development, and the planning of new neighbourhoods.  UDI has partnered with the Municipalities to help you understand the new planning framework and to explore the potential for growth and change in the urban area of HRM.     

These sessions will be held virtually on March 30, April 13, April 28, and May 11 and will run from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. This initiative is exclusive to UDI members. To register, please contact Stephanie at admin@udins.ca
